HistoryEdit

5-year-old, King James V was brought to the castle for safety. Upon his death 25 years later, the crown passed to his week-old daughter, Mary, Queen of Scots. English invasions followed, as King Henry VIII attempted to force a dynastic marriage on Scotland.

Mary Stuart was born in Linlithgow, but grew up in Edinburgh Scotland at the Holyrood Palace until she was attacked by the English and sent to live in France by her mother when she was 7.

Season OneEdit

Marie de Guise returned to Edinburgh after her daughter's wedding to rule in Scotland, until her return. [1]

Months later James Stuart urged his sister Mary to return to Scotland and rule, as the Protestants were becoming restless. [2]

Season TwoEdit

Mary Stuart decided to return to rule in Edinburgh, and asked Louis Condé to join her. [3]

Season ThreeEdit

Mary, Bash and Lord Narcisse along with mercenaries and French soldiers all bored a ship for Edinburgh. [4]

Mary and Bash were still determined to make it to Edinburgh Castle, but Stéphane Narcisse had broken away from them to head to England. [5]

James Stuart and John Knox had been debating over the possible death of Queen Mary. Soon a vote was called to demolish the Scottish monarchy, and create a politically democracy. However before any official decisions were made, Queen Mary and Sebastian arrived, and Mary took back her throne. [6]

Historical NotesEdit

  • Holyrood Palace is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Located at the bottom of The Royal Mile in Edinburgh, at the opposite end to Edinburgh Castle. Holyrood has served as the principal residence of the Kings and Queens of Scots since the 16th century and is a setting for state occasions and official entertaining. Queen Elizabeth II spends one week in residence at the beginning of each summer, where she carries out a range of official engagements and ceremonies. The 16th century Historic Apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots and the State Apartments, used for official and state entertaining, are open to the public throughout the year, except when members of the Royal Family are in residence.
  • Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, from its position on the Castle Rock. Archaeologists have established human occupation of the rock since at least the Iron Age (2nd century AD). From the 15th century the castle's residential role declined, and by the 17th century it was principally used as military barracks with a large garrison. The castle, is Scotland's most-visited paid tourist attraction.
